The dogeater are known for an odd characteristic where they adapt their skin tones in real time to camouflage to their surroundings like a chameleon but fast and more dynamic. When they are in the vacuum of space even, they take on this dark shimmer and it’s thought that it is their natural color and what we see here on earth is just them adapting to life around them. It’s really quite beautiful if you can get past the part that when you are seen, which is very likely, that you will soon be mauled to death and fed upon. Regardless, we were able to manage to capture this one in his most natural form. Deep space.
